The benefits of selling your surplus equipment.

Buying used equipment is all about saving time and money.  Did you known that by selling YOUR surplus equipment, you can actually make some money?

Selling your redundant items to a reputable company will give you a much greater return than if you scrap them and it really isn’t much hassle.  Our Senior Buyer Paul Cook talks below about the procedure we take at Perry when buying used equipment.

As well as getting some return, it will also free up space in your production facility, allowing you the room and investment to upgrade and expand as you need to.

Here are the selling options at Perry:

  • Outright Purchase: Perry will purchase your equipment for cash.
  • Trade-In: Trade-In your surplus equipment to discount from the cost of purchasing a piece of used equipment from our stock.
  • Consignment: We will sell your equipment on your behalf.
  • Asset Disposal: Complete package tailor-made for you. Activities can include Asset Valuation, Dismantling, Demolition, Inventory Reporting, Marketing, Storage and Logistics.

You can read more about this and some case studies on our website.

Get to know our Buyer, Mr Paul Cook:

Paul has been working for Perry for 21 years!  He started with the company as a young office junior and quickly found himself in the Inventory Department.  It was during these early years that his passion and knowledge of used process equipment began.

We asked Paul a few questions and here are his answers:

When did you start working for Perry:
As an Office Junior in 1992.  I then spent some time working in the Transport Department and was also Project Manager on several paint plants that we purchased for stock.

When did you become Buyer?
In 2003 I was made Purchasing Manager.  I am now Senior Buyer and have Greg working alongside me as Buyer.

What’s the best part of your job?
Carrying out on-site inspections.

What’s the most satisfying part of your job?
Watching the equipment I’ve purchased being sold and reused for its original purpose.

Can you tell us the procedure for buying used equipment for stock?
  • I will always ask to receive and review technical specifications and photographs of the equipment.
  • Carry out an on-site inspection to review equipment and technical documentation.
  • Once the inspection is done I will make an offer, either loaded to transport or As Is Where Is.  Perry can organise the safe removal of equipment and the required transport.
  • Perry will make payment prior to collection/removal and bring the equipment into stock.

If you have any surplus process equipment or would like any advice, please get in touch by email or call the office on +44 (0)1325 315111.

Read All About: Mixers

What is a Mixer?

There are many different types of industrial mixers, which are also referred to as Blenders, Agitators or Turbulizers. They are frequently found in food factories, chemical and pharmaceutical laboratories and in full scale process facilities. Most industrial mixers bear little resemblance to regular home mixers as industrial models can typically weigh several tonnes and have complex automation systems.

Many industrial processes involve mixing or blending materials. The raw materials blended also take many forms from wet to dry, low viscosity liquids to high viscosity powders, pastes and inks. It may be appropriate to use a double arm mixer for applications like dough mixing where a kneading type of action is required. Where the application requires a gentle mixing action, a double cone blender may be ideal, ensuring a homogeneous air-free mix. These industrial Mixers can be useful for the production of foods, adhesives, and pharmaceutical products, among others.

Another good example of the industrial application of mixers is the ribbon blender used for the mixing of small particle sized ingredients. It is also important that all of the ingredients are mixed evenly. The mixer has a central shaft with mixing blades angled in various orientations that look like double-helix ribbons, and gives the blender the ability to move parts of the mixture in different directions at the same time. This ensures that all ingredients are effectively and completely blended.

Ribbon blenders are mainly used in food and pharmaceutical manufacturing applications in large batch sizes. They can have a horizontal construction, where the shaft and blade are horizontal in the container, or the shaft and blade can be in a vertical position.

Some mixers may have additional features such as multiple chambers and chutes to handle different kinds of loads, and users can configure the mixers specific applications using a wide range of automation and controls.

Perry Inspires The Next Generation

Here at Perry we understand that the next generation are very important. Rather than children aspiring to become the next One Direction or Mila Kunis, we need young aspiring Marie Curie and Bill Gates wannabes.

Each year, we invite a group of school children to visit our Newton Aycliffe site for the day. The children meet our Sales Managers and Engineers and they are shown the structure of our business. They take part in process experiments using our equipment and are advised what each piece of equipment does in manufacturing and production sites across the globe.

On 28th June this year, our staff at Perry Process will welcome a class of Year 6 students from the local Aycliffe Village Primary School. The children have been studying science in the classroom but their visit to Perry Process will enable them to see how the experiments they perform translate into real-world situations.

By making their day fun and informative we can inspire the youth of today to consider a future career in science and engineering.

We were there: USETEC 2013

We are sad to say that the USETEC 2013 exhibition in Cologne, Germany is over for another year. Our Sales Managers have enjoyed meeting with customers and clients from around the globe. This year, our stand was represented by Richard Driver and Julie Morris, along with our Managing Director, Darren Bentham.

We gave out 50 FREE passes to our customers and our Sales Managers met with them at our stand: Hall 6, Stand E-108/F-109. Let us know if you attended the exhibition. Did you come along and see us?

This year we shared our stand with Lauer, our purchasing partners. On occasion, we purchase equipment as part of a team with other dealers to ensure that our customers get the best possible price for their surplus equipment.

See you all there again in 2014.
