Happy Birthday Paige!

All of the staff at Perry Process
would like to wish Paige Brittain a very
Happy 18th Birthday!
Paige started working at Perry Process Equipment Ltd at just sixteen years of age as a budding young apprentice. Two years later, Paige is now eighteen and already on to NVQ level 3 in Business Administration. She is a valued, hardworking member of our team, as well as being an amateur comedian.  She is looking forward to the next staff party, now that she is legally allowed to drink alcohol although this may not be such a good idea. We won’t mention the tattoos, piercings and her taste in rock music, but we will mention her love of her dogs, festivals and Hollyoaks.

Today, staff celebrated together and Richard, Sales Manager made her a delicious pink birthday cake, which Paige shared with staff members. Her family kindly posted an article, along with a flattering picture, in the local paper.
Paige stated, "I am very pleased to celebrate this milestone with the fantastic Perry team. I hope that we can all have many celebrations together in future. I was going to make a comment about 'getting old' but I am still the youngest in the office".
Happy 18th Birthday Paige! We wish you all the best for your future and hope you will be celebrating your birthdays here with us in the coming years.

Buying Used Equipment Tips and Myths

Buying Used Equipment Tips

There are several ways to select used process equipment for use in a plant, facility or factory. By buying used equipment, your company can save money and have access to a broad range of processes. Choosing the best used process equipment is a matter of buying equipment that comes from a reputable source, is in up-to-date condition, meets safety standards, and is cost effective for the specific task it will perform.
One should buy used process equipment from a reputable seller, especially when dealing with an overseas company. It is important to conduct thorough research on any company that is considered, find out what guarantees exist for faulty equipment, and speak directly with an employee from that company. Buyers should also consider the condition of the equipment, as it’s important to use equipment that is in up-to-date condition and is not damaged. Select only equipment that has been tested as working well.

Read our article The 8 Myths of Used Process Equipment, which eradicates the plethora of myths that surround the industry.

Second-hand equipment is classified into two groups:
Refurbished Equipment: Equipment that has been restored to factory standards, effectively allowing the machinery to be as good as new. What is different is that the items are available at a reduced cost and carry a warranty that is of a shorter duration than a warranty on a similar piece of new equipment.
Used or As-Is Equipment: Equipment that is sold without undergoing refurbishment. This simply means that the items have not been restored to factory standards. Often, the second-hand equipment is still in excellent working order, but is not sold with any type of warranty. Used items that have not undergone refurbishing are often the least expensive option, and may be very attractive to a business with very little money to spend.

Read About: Mixers

What is a Mixer?

There are many different types of industrial mixers and are also referred to as Blenders, Agitators or Turbulizers. They are frequently found in food factories, chemical and pharmaceutical laboratories and in full scale process facilities. Most industrial mixers bear little resemblance to regular home mixers as industrial models can typically weigh several tonnes and have complex automation systems.

Many industrial processes involve mixing or blending materials. The raw materials blended also take many forms from wet to dry, low viscosity liquids to high viscosity powders, pastes and inks. It may be appropriate to use a double arm mixer for applications like dough mixing where a kneading type of action is required. Where the application requires a gentle mixing action, a double cone blender may be ideal, ensuring a homogeneous air-free mix. These industrial Mixers can be useful for the production of foods, adhesives, and pharmaceutical products, among others.

Another good example of the industrial application of mixers is the ribbon blender used for the mixing of small particle sized ingredients. It is also important that all of the ingredients are mixed evenly. The mixer has a central shaft with mixing blades angled in various orientations that look like double-helix ribbons, and gives the blender the ability to move parts of the mixture in different directions at the same time. This ensures that all ingredients are effectively and completely blended.

Ribbon blenders are mainly used in food and pharmaceutical manufacturing applications in large batch sizes. They can have a horizontal construction, where the shaft and blade are horizontal in the container, or the shaft and blade can be in a vertical position.

Some mixers may have additional features such as multiple chambers and chutes to handle different kinds of loads, and users can configure the mixers specific applications using a wide range of automation and controls.
